The goal of Speech With Sara LLC is to help children improve their quality of life through better communication.
I am a nationally certified speech-language pathologist through the American Speech Language Hearing Association. I earned her master's degree in speech-language pathology from Eastern Michigan University and have worked with adults and children. Speech-Language Pathology is a second career for me. I spent more than a decade as a journalist in daily newspapers and later in web-based media. I earned my bachelor's degree in Journalism from Bowling Green State University. Previously, I worked with students in Detroit Public Schools ranging in age from preschoolers through age 20.
I have been trained in orofacial myology through coursework with the International Association of Orofacial Myology. I have also have been trained in Lively Letters & Sight Words You Can See programs to address literacy and phonological impairments. I am Hanen Certified with the It Takes Two to Talk program to help parents facilitate early childhood language acquisition and development.
I want to help children become confident communicators and families to become verbally interactive. From the random encounter with a grocery store clerk to giving formal presentations in classes or before other professionals; communication demands are placed upon everyone everyday everywhere. I love having the privilege of helping children develop and expand their communication skills.
