The Root Therapy Services
Providing home-based services to Los Alamos/White Rock areas
Statewide telepractice services now available
Hello everyone,
My name is Justine Dodge, and I am excited to be providing pediatric speech-language pathology services to the Los Alamos and White Rock areas.
My family and I moved to Los Alamos at the end of 2017. I have been working as an inpatient and outpatient SLP at Los Alamos Medical Center since January of 2018. I am presently providing adult rehab and acute services at LAMC, and I have 5 years of prior experience with treating toddlers and school-aged children with a variety of therapeutic needs.
At the end of 2019, I started a small private practice called The Root Therapy Services. I focus on providing treatment for articulation and phonological delays and impairments, childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, language based delays and disorders, stuttering, feeding and swallowing difficulties, traumatic brain injury and cognitive reorganization (related to sports injuries, etc.), vocal cord dysfunction, and other voice disorders.
Over the past several years, the qualification criteria for school therapy services has become more stringent, meaning that many people who may have qualified and benefited from services early on might not receive any services under current regulations and policies. At The Root, it is my goal to identify the need for services early on, and provide intervention that is appropriate for the individual.
At this time, I am doing telepractice visits only. If you have a referral from your child’s pediatrician or primary care provider, please ask him or her to route it to our secure fax number. Feel free to message me if you are looking for another type of SLP service not listed above. I am always reading up on the latest efficacious and evidence-based treatment techniques.
I am looking forward to serving you Los Alamos and White Rock, thanks and stay healthy!
- Justine Dodge, M.S. CCC-SLP
Bio
I graduated from ENMU in 2010 with my MS in Speech-Language Pathology, and received my BA in communication disorders from UNM. I have worked all over the state of New Mexico in a variety of settings.
My pediatric experience includes preschool, elementary, middle school, and early intervention. I provided screenings, evaluation, and treatment for the Child Find program which was a very fun experience. In regards to adult SLP services, I have worked in acute, sub-acute, and acute rehab, and have been conducting video-fluoroscopic swallow studies in conjunction with radiology since 2015. This study looks at the anatomy and physiology of the oral and pharyngeal phases of the swallow, as well as a screen of esophageal function, and I use a standardized evaluation procedure for all of my swallow studies. I love meeting new people, and helping my clients and their families achieve their goals.
