I hope this message finds you well. I’m 31 years old and have been living with a speech impediment that primarily affects my pronunciation of the “R” sound. Over the years, I’ve learned to mask it fairly well in most social and professional situations—but it’s always been a source of personal frustration and self-consciousness. This isn’t the more common distortion where “R” is replaced with a “W” sound. My issue seems to be more nuanced, but it continues to hold me back.
I’ve reached a point in my life where I’m committed to working through this challenge. I’m writing to ask if you work with adults who struggle with articulation—particularly the /r/ sound. Could it be anatomical, neurological, or even something like a tongue posture issue? I’d really appreciate any insight you might have, including what an evaluation would look like and what treatment options or procedures may be available.
If you think you might be able to help, I would love to schedule an initial consultation and discuss availability. I currently have NYSHIP Insurance, the Empire plan
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. |
