Cheryl Rowan Speech Therapy, LLC
Cheryl Rowan specializes in treating children with speech-sound disorders, articulation disorders and language learning disorders. Cheryl believes family plays an important role in therapy and always keeps a direct line of communication open with parents and other caregivers. With a welcoming office in Louisville, Cheryl directly treats all her clients (no other SLPs on staff), so you know that your child with work with the same therapist every week. In addition to her Master's Degree and her ASHA certification, Cheryl has advanced training in Orton-Gillingham, PROMPT, and Orofacial Myology. Cheryl recently earned the ACE Award from ASHA for outstanding achievement in continuing education.
Education/Training
Cheryl Rowan earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 1991, and then earned her Master’s Degree in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences from University of Colorado, Boulder.
Cheryl has experience working with children of all ages, as well as adults. Cheryl has experience treating a wide variety of speech and language problems including speech delay, articulation disorders, phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, stuttering, mixed expressive-receptive speech disorder, as well as communication difficulties associated with Autism, Down Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, and other medical diagnoses.
Speech-Language Pathology is an evolving field, and Cheryl feels strongly about using only the best evidence-based practice, supported by the most recent research. Her continuing education certifications include PROMPT, Orton-Gillingham, Orofaciial Myology, and Early Start Denver Model. Cheryl also has the designation of PCBIS, Provisional Certified Brain Injury Specialist.
