Spotlight on Stuttering Speech Therapy is now in five states and expanding. Laura has extensive experience in stuttering, cluttering and linguistic disfluency across the age span. Additionally, her work from pre-K to high school from 20 years in the schools enables her to work confidently and competently on the speech sound/phonology and language issues often co-occurring with stuttering. She has also specialized in speech sound disorders without stuttering involvement and was an instructor in Speech Sound Disorders at the University level. Laura is currently offering teletherapy throughout the states of WA, WI, SD, CA and CO.

Education/Training
B.S. Northwestern University, M.S. University of Wisconsin/Madison in Speech Language Pathology (2001). She is a certified speech therapist licensed in the states of WA, WI, CA, CO, and SD (CCC-SLP). She earned board certification in fluency disorders (BCS-F) in 2018. She is certified in all three preschool stuttering protocols (Lidcombe, RESTART-DCM and Palin Parent Interaction Therapy. She has won numerous fellowships to study with the Stuttering Foundation (SFA) and was a discussion leader at a two-day training with the SFA in NJ.
Bio
Laura Johnson is a certified speech therapist with over 20 years experience in the schools, in private practice, and as a former adjunct lecturer in fluency disorders and speech sound disorders at both University of Wisconsin (UW) Whitewater and UW/Madison. She is on staff as a facilitator with Camp Shout Out, a camp for children who stutter ages 8-18 in MI. Laura's review of the textbook, Clinical Decision Making in Fluency Disorders, by W. Manning and A. DiLollo was published in the Journal of Fluency Disorders. Additionally, she co-wrote an article with Kristin Chmela, CCC-SLP, BCS-F titled, "How Can We Overcome the Challenges of Providing School-Based Fluency Services?" which was published in the September 2018 Seminars in Speech and Language. Laura has presented on fluency disorders at both the the national Speech Language Hearing Association's (ASHA) national convention, and the Ohio and Wisconsin state speech/hearing conventions. Laura lives in Sequim, WA with her husband and two dogs. She has two adult children and is a proud parent of exchange students. She was a former Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal and taught English in South Korea. Laura continues to love learning languages and works on becoming more fluent in French and Italian
