Ohio University Hearing, Speech & Language Clinic
The Ohio University Hearing, Speech, and Language Clinic is devoted to serving individuals in the community who are having difficulty hearing, speaking and understanding language. The clinic offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment services for all ages, infant through adult. The clinic is open year round in the newly renovated Grover Center on Richland Avenue in Athens.
General Information
Ohio University Hearing Care are services provided from the audiology graduate clinicians and clinical audiology supervisors. We strive to provide professional hearing care services to all of our clientele.
We provide: Free community screenings,Comprehensive hearing evaluations,
Hearing aids and amplification services, and Aural Rehabilitation Services to the Athens area.
Our completed hearing aid and amplification services include: consultations, demonstrations, fitting and verification of appropriate programing, and appropriate follow up appointments.
Mission
The Hearing, Speech, and Language Clinic is part of the College of Health Sciences and Professions. Consistent with the training mission of the College, diagnostic and treatment services are provided by student clinicians under the supervision of experienced, licensed, and certified clinical instructors. Supervision is carried out in accordance with guidelines mandated by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the State of Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
Clients will receive appropriate and professional services without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, participation restriction, age, sexual orientation, or status as a parent. The clinic complies with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to equal treatment of all individuals.
Bio
Brandie Nance, Au.D., CCC-A
Has been practicing as an Audiologist in the private practice and university clinic settings for the last 9 years. She has provided comprehensive hearing evaluations, specialized diagnostic testing, and hearing aid amplification service across the age span.
Nicole Brandes, Au.D., CCC-A
Has been an audiologist for 15 years working in ENT, hospital and private practice settings. She teaches graduate, undergraduate audiology courses, and clinical training, as well as providing clinical supervision to students.
Marianne Malawista, Ph.D., CCC-SLP
Has been the Coordinator of Clinical Services at the Hearing, Speech and Language Clinic since 2009. As a practicing speech-language pathologist since 1983, her interests include adult treatment, particularly voice therapy.
Kristi Kinnard, M.A., CCC-SLP
Has worked clinically since 1984 as a provider of direct services in schools, hospitals and clinics. Employed as a clinical supervisor since 1998, Kristi enjoys all assessments involving children, especially those that have complex issues.
Sarah Taylor, M.A., CCC-SLP
Has worked clinically since 1980 as a practicing speech-language pathologist in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, and schools. Sarah mentors students across a wide spectrum of communication deficits with a particular interest in neurological disorders.
Janice M. Wright, M.A., CCC-SLP
Has worked clinically since 1982 as a provider of direct services in schools, clinics and home-based services. Employed as a clinical supervisor and instructor since 1998, her interests include language development in young children and feeding issues of infants and children.
