Bio
Gibson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Grambling State University. Her thirst for knowledge in the field led her to obtain a Master of Arts degree in Speech Pathology from The University of Memphis. The decision to create an organization that takes a more comprehensive approach in helping individuals put their best foot forward through verbal communication came from several years of experience in the home health care component.
In 2005, she leaped out on faith – with a parachute of education and application of the skills she learned – to launch her own home health agency. Gibson maintained a reputable client base of individuals suffering with speech, language, and voice and swallowing disorders as result of heart attack, stroke, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other neurogenic disorders. While simultaneously operating a successful home health operation, Gibson began to revisit her undergraduate interest of corporate speech pathology and vocal image consulting – a skill she honed by volunteering time and talent to work with broadcasting students and campus DJs.
Through complimentary speech and voice consultation to local recording artists, clergy, life coaches/public speakers, word of Gibson’s effectiveness in aiding with diction, vocal hygiene (how to take care of your voice to prevent vocal injury and hoarseness) she saw the impact of her life’s work as demand for her services grew through word of mouth. She instantly felt compelled – and spiritually led – to launch the Speech and Voice Care Center, PLLC in 2008. Through her organization, Gibson hopes to continue helping individuals enhance their personal image by improving their communication skills and voice to promote excellence in speech. Gibson is a Texas State licensed and ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) board certified speech-language pathologist. She has served in various offices including President of the Neurogenics special interest group within NBASLH (National Black Association of Speech-Language-Hearing Association). She is Compton P-ESL certified to provide accent reduction services. She is also certified to treat swallowing via Vital Stim and DPNS (deep pharyngeal neuromuscular stimulation) as well as dementia care and treatment certified. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adults with cognitive-linguistic, voice, motor speech and swallowing disorders.
