The Brain Trainer
Develop Skills. Build Confidence.
Brain Training and Speech-Language Pathology Services
The Brain Trainer works with clients as early as preschool, all the way to seniors. We believe that EVERYONE can have a better brain, regardless of their age.
Our clients consist of school aged children who are struggling in the areas of math and reading or those who are excelling in school and want to be pushed to the next level. Clients who have an ADD/ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Dyslexia or a speech and language diagnosis will also make huge changes while enrolled in one of our customized programs.
Our adult clients include those who want to gain a competitive edge at work or stay sharp in retirement. We also serve adults with ADD/ ADHD, dyslexia or following a stroke or brain injury.

The process begins with an assessment, administered by our director, Vicki Parker, Ph.D., to determine a client’s strengths and weaknesses. After the assessment, she will design, a customized training program. Clients will then begin to work with their own personal brain trainer, to strengthen weak cognitive skill areas. This is not tutoring —it is training that actually improves the brain from now and for years to come.
The customized programs will be filled with activities and tasks that feel like games. You will gain fascinating insights into how the mind functions and how nearly everyone can think more quickly, clearly and creatively. It’s fun and it works.

Bio
Meet Dr. Vicki Parker
Dr. Vicki Parker is founder and director of The Brain Trainer. She holds a Ph.D. in speech language pathology with a concentration in neuroscience from Michigan State University. For nearly 30 years, she has worked with children and adults who have learning, speech, language, behavior and reading disorders.

Dr. Parker is also a leader among her peers. She speaks nationally at professional conferences and is author of the textbook Problem Solving, Planning and Organizational Tasks: Strategies for Retraining.
Along with years of clinical expertise in her field, Dr. Parker understands it from the perspective of a mother whose child needed help. Her daughter Sally struggled with learning and reading in first grade. After extensively researching options, Dr. Parker chose brain training and speech therapy for her own daughter. Today, Sally is a sixth grader who reads above grade level and enjoys leisure reading.

Dr. Parker led a franchised brain training center in Charlotte for three years prior to opening her own practice, The Brain Trainer. Her past work also included management of the rehabilitation department of a large hospital, where she supervised a staff of fifty.

I've been mentored by Dr. Parker and we have been colleagues for many years. She is a bright, dedicated clinician whose clinical skills have facilitated cognitive skill enhancement as well as rehabilitation progress for her clients. She has a great ability to stay on top of current research findings from a broad range of disciplines, melding them with her field of speech pathology. Her work with cognitive impairments is exceptional, as are her clinical outcomes and her conviction that cognitive linguistic therapy, delivered with the appropriate frequency and structure, can help many more individuals than are commonly considered able to benefit from treatment.
