Cuando los niños presentan “disfluencias” o los padres piensan que están tartamudeando, ellos pueden
implementar una serie de estrategias para estimular a los niños a establecer una comunicación efectiva y sentirse felices de hacerlo!

NO CORREGIR… REPETIR
Las disfluencias pueden disminuir si hacemos “eco” de lo que el niño dice. Podemos repetir parte de la frase o la
frase completa en forma fluida, en una velocidad y tiempo normal, y dentro del contexto de lo que se está
hablando. No es tan divertido repetir todo lo que el niño dice y no es la mejor manera de “conversar” con él, así
que debemos dosificar esta estrategia. Lo más importante es hacerle saber que comprendimos lo que nos dijo y
que nos estamos comunicando. Todos pensamos que lo que decimos es importante. Esto no es diferente en los
niños. Ellos disfrutan cuando saben que los oímos y que su mensaje está llegando!
Algunos niños se pueden molestar cuando hacemos esto, si ese es el caso, no debemos insistir.
