Don't Just Cope With Autism. Make Life Better!
Transformative Autism Coaching
Disconnection. Isolation. Having a child with autism makes life hard. You’re running more, trying harder than any parent you know, and getting back so much less. It’s not just the big accomplishments—the Instagram Superstar moments everyone posts of their kids—that you miss. Even more, it’s the little things, like shooting hoops, baking together, playing games, story time… All those small moments of big connection that were supposed to be “givens” of parenting…
And despite those nagging voices in your head … or possibly even from folks around you… before we go any further, let me reassure you that YOU are a GOOD PARENT. How do I know? Because you’re here. You recognize that your child, your family, YOU have a need, and you’re actively seeking solutions. I know you’re running. And I know that when you’re not running, your mind is. Running for the answers, for the solutions to this mystery that separates your child from you, from the world. Let me tell you a secret. You can stop running now. Your answer has been right here all along...
Because YOU are your child’s best medicine.
I know this probably isn’t the message you’re used to hearing. But it’s true.
When you really boil it down, the only difference between ASD and “normal” development is the different between this:

And this:

It’s just a matter of your child knowing how to span the gap and grab hold of the scaffolding guidance you provide.
That’s it.
But simple isn’t always easy… without the proper guidance. And that’s where I come in.
If you want to guide your child to reach out to you (and others) for genuine, meaningful connection. If you want to learn how to help them THRIVE—now, and in the future—I can help.

Bio
In over 10 years of providing speech and language services in schools, in homes, and online for children ages 1-21, I realized that my clients with autism need more from me than I knew how to provide. As a speech-language pathologist, I could give them clearer speech, more words, longer sentences and "social skills." However, I couldn't give my clients the ability to form genuine connections with other people, solve unique problems, and face the unexpected with confidence-- and as we see daily, it's ALL unexpected. In other words, I could improve "static" abilties, but my speech-language training didn't give me the background I needed to help grow my clients' "dynamic intelligence." So I started to improvise. Drawing from my previous experiences in dramatherapy, dance therapy, acting, and directing I started to work on engaging with my clients, drawing them to engage with me before attempting to drill any skills. One day a colleague, an ABA therapist, saw what I was doing with our client and she said, "You're doing RDI!" I asked, "What's RDI?!" She told me about a program called Relationship Development Intervention, a coaching program that increases dynamic intelligence in autism. Dynamic intelligence is the set of flexible mental abilties we need to engage with and thrive in an ever-changing world. I've been doing this since 2017. I don't drill skills anymore. Collaborating with parents, we fill in the developmental gaps through daily activities and the skills appear on their own! It's exciting work. I'd love to collaborate with you, so your family can experience the kinds of transformation my current and previous clients have experienced! To get started, contact me today for a free consultation.
