Let’s think outside the waiting room
Education/Training
I graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2011 with a masters in communication disorders. My passion is working with children with speech sound disorders and with children who use augmented alternative communication (AAC). Over the past 9 years, I’ve provided diagnostic and therapeutic services in several settings such as schools and medical facilities. I’ve completed training in PROMPT, a specialized treatment technique for apraxia and motor speech disorders.
Bio
Hi! My name is Melissa Massery and I'm a state-licensed, board-certified speech language pathologist.

As a parent of a child with non-verbal Autism who uses AAC, I spent years in therapy waiting rooms with my 3 little kids, willing to do whatever my son needed. In the process, I burnt out as a mom and realized the importance of a parent’s role in a child’s therapeutic journey. This led me to become trained in the Son Rise Program, which is a child-led, parent-focused autism program. These experiences led me to create Massery Speech Therapy where high-quality evidence-based therapy could be provided in home without a burden to the overall family. I believe children learn best when they are having fun and when parents are given clear, easy to use tools to support their child’s learning.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my four children and husband (who is also a speech language pathologist!) and enjoy photography, baking and decluttering all the things. I look forward to working with you and your child!
