Bilingual Pediatric Speech Therapy
in-home visits in the Tucson area
I am a bilingual, pediatric speech-language pathologist in northwest Tucson.
I provide bilingual (English/Spanish) speech therapy in Tucson. I have extensive experience in working with infants through school aged children, with a specialty in bilingual language acquisition, evaluation and treatment. I provide individual speech therapy with a heavy emphasis on parent/caregiver education and training to promote continued language growth within the home.
I believe the parent-child-therapist relationship and engagement is crucial to successful treatment outcomes. The parent is always a key player in the treatment journey. As parents are the first teachers of their children and the EXPERTS on their kids, I hold in utmost importance the parents’ or caregivers’ wishes, beliefs, ideas, and goals for the child. Together, we will form a collaborative treatment approach that meets the needs of your child and your family’s lifestyle.
I am a speech language pathologist because I love to help children and their parents communicate better together. There are tools and strategies that families can learn and use to improve their communication with one another, and in turn, improve the parent-child relationship.
That’s where I come in. I am here to support you and guide you on this journey to helping your child overcome breakdowns in communication. I want you and your child to bond and enjoy each other through your shared communication. Let’s work together to help communication get better.
Education/Training
I have worked as an SLP in Tucson for 8 years in a variety of settings (hospitals, clinical, geriatric, pediatric) as a bilingual Speech Language Pathologist. I have the knowledge to assess and treat patients in both Spanish and English to determine if there is truly a language disorder or language difference. I am certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and hold a license to practice in the state of Arizona. I hold a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of Arizona, a Master of Education from the University of Notre Dame, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish & Linguistics from the University of Arizona.
Bio
When I’m not wearing my SLP hat, I’m homeschooling my oldest child and enjoying life in Tucson with my husband and 2 other small children. I love hiking, traveling, baking, and reading books with my kids. When I’m not out for a morning run, rest assured I’m still wearing my running shoes all day long so I can more easily chase after my kids!
I love to experience the joyous event of a parent celebrating their child saying a new word or making a new request or comment! Raising kids is hard enough, (I know, I have three!) and it’s stressful when a child simply cannot clearly state their wants and needs…to you, or to a teacher or daycare provider. Communication doesn’t need to be your struggle. I look forward to learning about your family and how I can assist you in your child’s language development journey.
