What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently.
We observe the brain in action from moment to moment. We show that information back to the person.
And we reward the brain for changing its own activity to more appropriate patterns. This is a gradual
learning process. It applies to any aspect of brain function that we can measure. Neurofeedback is also
called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or
EEG. Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. It is simply biofeedback applied to the brain directly.
Self-regulation is a necessary part of good brain function. Self-regulation training allows the system
(the central nervous system) to function better.
Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dis-regulation. These happen to be numerous.

Education
All therapists are board certified and licensed in the state of California in addition to being active credentialed members of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. Our staff are continually attending accredited training sessions and continuing education to be the leaders in the field of Speech Language Pathology so that we may provide the highest quality services to our clients.
Bio:
Beyond Speech Therapy was founded by April Nolan, Speech Language Pathologist. April has been in practice since 2005 as an independent practitioner and then opened Beyond Speech Therapy in April of 2005. In 2018, April was awarded the "Top 20 Under 40" award for San Luis Obispo County. Before opening BST, she worked in every area of Speech Pathology and with all ages including schools, clinics, skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, early intervention and home health. It was very important to her to develop an understanding and appreciation for every environment of the field to better equip and support her team. Meeting the needs of each client with a client centered evidence based approach is key to success. There is no "cookie cutter" formula for treating deficits in the field of Speech Pathology. Each client's needs are different and require attention to detail. April is a mover and doer and believes in innovation and continuing education. She is a believer of "When you know better, you do better." She is continually adding new tools and techniques to the practice to ensure every client is successful. Currently, she leads a team of seven therapists who provide services to our community.

Beyond speech therapy is in network with most insurances, CCPN, CenCal and Medicare. Cash, check & Credit/Debit cards are all accepted forms of payment. As a courtesy, Beyond Speech Therapy will bill your insurance.
