Dower and Associates, Inc. is a multi – disciplinary private practice with a focus in speech/language, education and behavior analysis. The corporate office is located in Manassas, VA with center-based services delivered in Aldie, VA.

Our staff specialize in two areas primarily:
- The assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental disabilities utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and the clinical application of procedures for language acquisition, based on B.F. Skinner's natural science approach to teaching verbal behavior.
- The assessment and treatment of children and adolescents in the areas of receptive and expressive language delays and disorders, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, phonemic awareness difficulties, phonological/articulation delays, auditory and language processing disorders, semantic-pragmatic disorder, word finding deficits, reading, spelling and written language problems.
Dower and Associates, Inc. speech/language and ABA staff members are trained extensively in the behavior analytic framework to developing communication, language, academic and life skills in persons diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, PDD-NOS, Down's Syndrome and other related developmental delays. In addition, most staff members are proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and the use of the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), a picture based communication system. Speech and Language Pathologists of the practice also have experience selecting and training clients and caregivers in the use of other augmentative/alternative communication systems and devices. |

Ms. Dower has been in private practice serving Loudoun County since 1986 and in Prince William County since 1993. Her current staff of speech/language pathologists, ABA instructors and tutors specialize in the treatment of children and adolescents with language learning disabilities, speech/language delays/disorders and those with autism and other developmental disabilities.
Over the years, Ms. Dower found her niche in the treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Down's Syndrome, and those with language based learning disabilities. She is responsible for consulting with families, school systems, private schools and agencies and training those who implement ABA/VB programs across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Since 1986, she has been a Virginia licensed speech/language pathologist and in 1988, she came a nationally, ASHA certified speech/language pathologist. In June of 2005, she became the first speech/language pathologist in Virginia to receive certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst®. In October of 2012, she received her Virginia Behavior Analyst license issued by the Virginia Board of Medicine. In 2014, she became the co-chair of the SPABA SIG of ABAI. She has been a Board Member of Commonwealth Autism since 2002. She is an Advisory Board Member of POAC-NoVA as well. |
