Description
My 20 year old son is struggling with a speech problem. He stuttered as a child throughout elementary and junior high school. He did speech therapy for a while during that time. The stuttering got a little better after he entered high school. Now, at the age of 20, he doesn’t really stutter anymore, instead he is having a different issue. When someone asks him a question, he knows what he wants to say, he knows what word he wants to speak, but when he opens his mouth, it will not come out. It’s like he can’t force the word and sound to come out of his mouth. It’s really frustrating for him, because it seems to get worse over time. It affects him emotionally and socially. Grown people will make fun of him, especially on the job. He really gets down about it and I hate to see him lose confidence in himself because of this. Is there anyone or anything that could possibly help him out or determine what is going on with him? Please let me know if there is!
