Experienced
I am owner/therapist of The Center for Speech Language Intervention. I have experience in schools but find that one on one intervention is the most productive way to provide optimal services for the client. Developing a trusting relationship with high expectations is core to reaching a child so we can work together on target goals. We must accept where the child begins and celebrate that next step, then the next and the next. I have worked with children from birth to high school in areas including: autism (including Aspergers), childhood apraxia of speech, receptive and expressive language delays and disabilities, processing disorders, stuttering, genetic disorders, articulation and phonological process disorders, phonemic awareness and reading comprehension deficits. Another aspect of communication intervention is to address psychosocial/behavioral issues that may accompany communication challenges. While we want to use research based interventions such as Interactive Metronome which accesses neuroplasticity to support therapeutic goals, there is also an organic process of being flexible in engaging with your child. Your child's needs are unique and discovering what works best is part of that process. References and recommendations available.
