Allison Elium, M.A., CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist and founder of Wildflower Speech Therapy. She specializes in treating speech disorders and stuttering in children and adults. To make speech therapy a comfortable and personalized experience, Allison provides speech therapy in the comfort of your home. She can also provide services at children's private schools, preschools, or after-school programs. Allison is committed to lifelong learning and staying current with new research and treatment approaches. She has contributed to research with Dr. Courtney Byrd in the field of stuttering, and has compiled a clinician’s guidebook for promoting transfer and maintenance of speech skills in school-aged children who stutter. Allison has been trained in PROMPT, a specialized treatment approach to speech disorders. As a member of ASHA’s Special Interest Groups for Fluency and Speech Science, she continues learning and contributing to discussions in the field of stuttering and speech disorders. Building BLOCS serves children with autism and other language, behavior, and learning needs in the greater austin area. Challenging behaviors often arise because children lack the ability to communicate. At Building BLOCS, the behavior therapist and language therapist collaborate on goals and methods, realizing that each of these areas is dependent on and contributes to the other. Also, ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis) and speech therapy are sought for most children with autism. It makes sense to house the two in one location. Since 1984, I have worked with professionally diagnosed clients who have dyslexia or related disorders such as language based learning disabilities. I use various programs depending on the needs of my clients. Take Flight, Rewards, Basic Language Skills, Wilson, and Lindamood-Bell are some of the programs that I am able to implement with my clients. I teach phonological processing, alphabet-dictionary-vocabulary skills, decoding, reading fluency, scientific spelling, comprehension, and written expression skills. I also do initial baseline testing and assessment screening as well as progress monitoring with standardized tests such as the CTOPP, GORT-4, and TOWRE-4. My clients usually work for at least two years to complete the remedial process of language retraining.

Ginny has two degrees in English, plus an all-level teaching certification (grades 1-12), from the University of Texas-Austin, as well as 18 hours toward a doctorate at Texas State University. She has been working as a Certified Academic Language Therapist, and now as a Licensed Dyselxia Therapist, for 20 years. She also has been a dyslexia therapist in the capacity of tester and therapist for two school districts, and as well as a private consultant, for 20 years. She has access to and experience in several scientific learning programs (which she either uses in their entirety or pulls from) to create tailored reading, spelling, and writing programs specifically geared for success with each individual child. These heavily researched and scientifically-based programs include: "Basic Language Skills" (used at Rawson-Saunders School in Austin); Scottish Rite Learning Center's "Take Flight Language Program"; Lindamood Bell Company's "Visualizing and Verbalizing," "Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing," and "Seeing Stars" programs; and "Project Read." Ginny is also able to use her experience treaching honors English and in college debate to work with students' wriitng and honing their receptive/expressive lanuage skills. She works with students from pre-schoolers through adults. Ginny also works with elementary students who have learning disabilities involving mathematics, using the Lindamood-Bell "On Cloud Nine" program.
