Patients can be born with the disorder or it can develop from a stroke or head injury. Dysarthria – Patients with dysarthria may have slurred speech, a slow or rapid rate of speech, abnormal rhythm when speaking or difficulty chewing and swallowing. Dysarthria can develop from a stroke or head injury. Stuttering – Stuttering is a communication disorder that causes difficulty in fluency of speech. The Root Therapy Services
Speech-Language Pathologist
White Rock, NM 87547
Providing home-based services to Los Alamos/White Rock areas
Statewide telepractice services now available
Hello everyone, My name is Justine Dodge, and I am excited to be providing pediatric speech-language pathology services to the Los Alamos and White Rock areas. My family and I moved to Los Alamos at the end of 2017. I have been working as an inpatient and outpatient SLP at Los Alamos Medical Center since January of 2018. I am presently providing adult rehab and acute services at LAMC, and I have 5 years of prior experience with treating toddlers and school-aged children with a variety of therapeutic needs. At the end of 2019, I started a small private practice called The Root Therapy Services. I focus on providing treatment for articulation and phonological delays and impairments, childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, language based delays and disorders, stuttering, feeding and swallowing difficulties, traumatic brain injury and cognitive reorganization (related to sports injuries, etc.), vocal cord dysfunction, and other voice disorders. Over the past several years, the qualification criteria for school therapy services has become more stringent, meaning that many people who may have qualified and benefited from services early on might not receive any services under current regulations and policies. At The Root, it is my goal to identify the need for services early on, and provide intervention that is appropriate for the individual. At this time, I am doing telepractice visits only. If you have a referral from your child’s pediatrician or primary care provider, please ask him or her to route it to our secure fax number. Feel free to message me if you are looking for another type of SLP service not listed above. I am always reading up on the latest efficacious and evidence-based treatment techniques. I am looking forward to serving you Los Alamos and White Rock, thanks and stay healthy! - Justine Dodge, M.S. CCC-SLP

In-home speech therapy services in the NW/SW Portland and Beaverton areas for children and adults. Customized social-communication groups, blending yoga and speech therapy. I gradually started adding yoga breathing techniques into my treatments with my speech therapy clients in 2012. I was helping my patients create a calm space, a moment to connect with themselves. I was also offering other therapeutic benefits such as better breath support for speech and vocal amplitude. As my career shifted to also include an education focus, I found new therapeutic implications of blending yoga and speech therapy. I began working with preschoolers, incorporating short yoga sequences merging movement with the sounds and vocabulary they needed to learn. I found that yoga movements and guided relaxations, known to my students as 'magic carpet rides' helped the overall energy of my therapy groups. I'd be happy to chat with you to see if I can help you or your loved one!

Master the Voice
Voice, Singing, Cough & Swallowing Therapy + ENT On-Site
Aaron Low is a Speech-Voice Pathologist and Singing Voice Therapist-to-the-Stars! Aaron owns and leads The Voice Clinic team in Toronto, ON Canada and has over 25 years of clinical rehabilitative experience. Aaron Low's non-pharmacological, nonsurgical treatment for speaking and singing voice realigns the larynx and its musculature through specialized massage. Comparable to cranio-sacral and osteopathy medicine, both forms of treatment using gentle reposturing techniques for the back of the neck and general skeleton, Aaron’s Voice Freedom Techniques treat the front of the neck. He relieves patients suffering with speaking, singing and swallowing difficulties and provides home programming for continued maintenance of progress and preventing re-occurrence. Most importantly, Aaron doesn’t teach singing, he brings back the voice you had or develops the voice you wish you had by focusing on the athletics of sound. In addition, patients suffering from chronic hoarseness or cough, singing voice fatigue, ‘painful’ voice or swallowing and voice weakness can be cured. For a complete, all-in-one team approach, The Voice Clinic is experienced, uses only cutting-edge technology and offers an personal, fast and yet gentle service that leads the way for treating head, neck, speech, swallowing and singing health. Alex Osborn MD PhD, Medical Director and Head-Neck Surgeon at The Voice Clinic, Dr. Osborn is an American and Canadian Board Certified Surgeon of the Ear, Nose and Throat for both adults and children. He specialized in finite surgeries for children’s airway and ear disorders at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and now uses at TVC the world’s top surgical tools to repair voice, sinus and even skin lesions while the patient is in-office to avoid the need for general anaesthetic and hospital delays. The Voice Clinic is the only private treatment centre in Canada to use this new equipment and innovative therapy techniques together under one roof. Digital Videostroboscopy recording of speech, singing and swallowing allows a view of the vocal cords while a patient is speaking or singing. The high-quality imaging permits the most accurate diagnosis possible, and can analyse and record in slow-motion the mechanics of speech, singing and swallowing so problems can be eliminated. Each patient is educated and provided a copy of their evaluation for motivation and evidence. Our approach is that each person’s voice is precious and you need to know how to keep your voice healthy. Our KTP Laser allows for surgery that is maximally accurate and minimally invasive, eliminating the need for general anesthetic, incisions, scalpels, dressings or analgesics…KTP means a procedure one day, and return to work the next. Clinical applications for the KTP laser address the head and neck. Sinus, throat and skin lesions are eliminated without damaging the surface of the skin. Small spider veins in the face disappear, age spots are erased in one treatment and small lesions of the nose and vocal cords that cause big problems in some people are treated without scarring in the office avoiding long-hospital waiting and recovery. Free consultation is available through OHIP with your family doctor’s referral and reasonable private rates cover those without insurance. Audiological screening for hearing problems is provided on-site.

Pediatric Speech Language Therapy
I am a speech language pathologist with over 12 years experience treating patients of all ages. My specialties include articulation and phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, and social/pragmatic language. I work in school settings with direct experience with children and students ages 2 to 21 and have extensive knowledge and understanding of the IEP process. Along with providing therapy I also offer consultation to families who are involved in the IEP process of referral, evaluation, and meetings. I have worked in several different school systems within the state of MA and understand the ins and outs of speech therapy services provided by schools. I opened a private practice to be able to provide high quality therapy to children and their families by targeting their specific needs without the restrictions of the school based setting. I look forward to speaking with you and I cannot wait to get started on the path to helping your child achieve their goals.
