Speech Therapy & Accent Reduction/Modification
Parents of children with a speech/articulation concern: -Are you feeling frustrated because you can not understand your child when he speaks? -Is your child also frustrated because he doesn't feel understood and can't clearly express what he wants? -Has another professional told you that your child will outgrow his speech problem, but it doesn't seem to be getting better? -Is your child becoming more withdrawn because he knows he can't say certain words correctly? -Is your child 8 yrs old or older and still can't say R, S, TH, or L words? -Are other kids starting to notice that your child speaks differently? -Do you have to interpret your child's speech to other people? Adults: Do you have a regional or foreign accent that you would like to change? Are you feeling insecure at work or in social situations because of the way you talk? Do you always have to repeat yourself? Do you have difficulties being understood over the phone? Do you shy away from group talks or meetings because of the way you talk? Do you let other people talk for you at work or social gatherings? Do you feel your accent or enunciation skills get in the way at work or in social settings? To my potential clients, if you can relate to any or all of the above, I am here to help. Clear communication is essential to all of our relationships, both personal and professional. You don't necessarily have to be the greatest orator like Winston Churchill or John F. Kennedy. But it would be pretty great to be articulate just like them, but on a smaller scale within your tribe or community. Sessions are via tele-therapy only. I am licensed to practice in Colorado and California. So if you are located in these states, feel free to reach out. I offer free 20 minute consultations and we can chat it up and get those questions answered.
BabbleBetter

San Diego, CA 92104
Speech Therapist in San Diego at BabbleBetter
Hello, I’m Elizabeth McGuire, MA CCC-SLP, Licensed Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist. Parents call me Ms Elizabeth, and the toddlers call me Ms. M. Supporting children to develop their communication skills and reach their maximum potential for 22+ years. The early years create the greatest impact in how we are able to communicate with our children, and how they will interact with their surroundings. I use my expertise earned via my Master’s degree, and through working with thousands of school aged children along with specializing in baby and toddler speech and language therapy since 2007. I am so happy that you are here and the resources that I provide can lead you to your child’s greatest success in communication, learning, and in life! Please see program options below and if you have any questions, or want specific attention, you can call me for a free 15 minute consultation. My Philosophy ------------------------- My philosophy is that children who enjoy their therapy sessions strive with focus and make greater progress without thinking it is work. Our goal is to eliminate the anxiety, pressure, or “performance” aspect that can happen with delayed talking and replace it with a joy for making sounds and words. My welcoming environment builds trust between child, therapist, and families. We work together as a cohesive unit toward the quickest betterment of the child’s communication skills. As such, parental involvement is important. We include parents and/or caregivers as much as possible. We also provide families with activities that can be worked on at home. My Approach ----------------------- I feel the best intervention is that which the children enjoy and don’t realize it is therapy. Parents tell me that because we combine play-based therapy with parent training, they leave each session with real-life tools to use right away at home. I strive for my family clients to have the best and quickest success, and therefore provide multimodal methods to the therapy process. I’m constantly updating the therapy procedures with the most updated information possible, as evidenced by my three outstanding awards I have received for additional training. I provide services in either English or Spanish, depending on the needs of the family.
