Voice Disorders: This may be a result of an impairment in physical structure, like vocal nodules, paralysis of the vocal cords, cancer of the head, neck or throat or simply age related changes to the vocal structures. However, sometimes voice disorders may be a result of ineffective or improper use of the vocal mechanism. I provide pediatric SLP services to children from birth to 16 years. I have specialty experience with feeding and swallowing, complex medical disorders and speech and language disorders. I have extensive experience in working with premature infants, both in the NICU and beyond in Early Intervention. I also provide traditional medical SLP services combined with Craniosacral Therapy with improved functional outcomes. (Craniosacral therapy is a light touch therapy that helps to balance the nervous system, leading to improved neurological function and better availability for traditional therapies.) I strongly believe in presuming competence and helping clients communicate and advocate for themselves more independently. I have experience with trialing and procuring Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices to support communication access. Another professional interest is supporting Gestalt Language Processors; Gestalt Language Processors learn to speak in chunks or phrases, using echolalia (repetition of phrases or units of meaning) prior to learning to break up those chunks into single words that may be combined into more traditional grammar.
