The Speech Niche
Speech Therapy & Accent Reduction/Modification
Parents of children with a speech/articulation concern: -Are you feeling frustrated because you can not understand your child when he speaks? -Is your child also frustrated because he doesn't feel understood and can't clearly express what he wants? -Has another professional told you that your child will outgrow his speech problem, but it doesn't seem to be getting better? -Is your child becoming more withdrawn because he knows he can't say certain words correctly? -Is your child 8 yrs old or older and still can't say R, S, TH, or L words? -Are other kids starting to notice that your child speaks differently? -Do you have to interpret your child's speech to other people? Adults: Do you have a regional or foreign accent that you would like to change? Are you feeling insecure at work or in social situations because of the way you talk? Do you always have to repeat yourself? Do you have difficulties being understood over the phone? Do you shy away from group talks or meetings because of the way you talk? Do you let other people talk for you at work or social gatherings? Do you feel your accent or enunciation skills get in the way at work or in social settings? To my potential clients, if you can relate to any or all of the above, I am here to help. Clear communication is essential to all of our relationships, both personal and professional. You don't necessarily have to be the greatest orator like Winston Churchill or John F. Kennedy. But it would be pretty great to be articulate just like them, but on a smaller scale within your tribe or community. Sessions are via tele-therapy only. I am licensed to practice in Colorado and California. So if you are located in these states, feel free to reach out. I offer free 20 minute consultations and we can chat it up and get those questions answered.

Don't Just Cope With Autism. Make Life Better!
Transformative Autism Coaching
Disconnection. Isolation. Having a child with autism makes life hard. You’re running more, trying harder than any parent you know, and getting back so much less. It’s not just the big accomplishments—the Instagram Superstar moments everyone posts of their kids—that you miss. Even more, it’s the little things, like shooting hoops, baking together, playing games, story time… All those small moments of big connection that were supposed to be “givens” of parenting… And despite those nagging voices in your head … or possibly even from folks around you… before we go any further, let me reassure you that YOU are a GOOD PARENT. How do I know? Because you’re here. You recognize that your child, your family, YOU have a need, and you’re actively seeking solutions. I know you’re running. And I know that when you’re not running, your mind is. Running for the answers, for the solutions to this mystery that separates your child from you, from the world. Let me tell you a secret. You can stop running now. Your answer has been right here all along... Because YOU are your child’s best medicine. I know this probably isn’t the message you’re used to hearing. But it’s true. When you really boil it down, the only difference between ASD and “normal” development is the different between this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SLzPyxzbYIwNnW0jcdnHmqKBYX27e0NW/view?usp=sharing And this: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19o6T7DbYnUCz8kTdqJjOYKAd6dtAqGi_/view?usp=sharing It’s just a matter of your child knowing how to span the gap and grab hold of the scaffolding guidance you provide. That’s it. But simple isn’t always easy… without the proper guidance. And that’s where I come in. If you want to guide your child to reach out to you (and others) for genuine, meaningful connection. If you want to learn how to help them THRIVE—now, and in the future—I can help. Reach out today to schedule a free consultation.

UNLOCK YOUR CODE TO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION!
In addition to Speech/Language Therapy, I offer Holistic Energy Healing and Reiki. I am PROMPT trained as well. In my practice I am commited to providing the highest quality service therapuetically. That means comprehensive, personalized approaches based on scientific research and annecdotal success. I believe that when working with children, the parents need to be involved in learning how to provide effective communication models and practice sessions for their child. When working with adults, whether it be Accent Modification or Voice Improvement or Business Presentation Skills, I am dedicated to helping each client reach their maximum potential. In expanding the treatments that I offer to clients, I have bridged the gap between oral/social communication and how our bodies communicate. Physical restrictions can impact oral communication, as well as learning and attention skills. I have been trained to use the rhythms and energy fields of the body to understand what the body needs and then treat my client holistically.

Providing home-based services to Los Alamos/White Rock areas
Statewide telepractice services now available
Hello everyone, My name is Justine Dodge, and I am excited to be providing pediatric speech-language pathology services to the Los Alamos and White Rock areas. My family and I moved to Los Alamos at the end of 2017. I have been working as an inpatient and outpatient SLP at Los Alamos Medical Center since January of 2018. I am presently providing adult rehab and acute services at LAMC, and I have 5 years of prior experience with treating toddlers and school-aged children with a variety of therapeutic needs. At the end of 2019, I started a small private practice called The Root Therapy Services. I focus on providing treatment for articulation and phonological delays and impairments, childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, language based delays and disorders, stuttering, feeding and swallowing difficulties, traumatic brain injury and cognitive reorganization (related to sports injuries, etc.), vocal cord dysfunction, and other voice disorders. Over the past several years, the qualification criteria for school therapy services has become more stringent, meaning that many people who may have qualified and benefited from services early on might not receive any services under current regulations and policies. At The Root, it is my goal to identify the need for services early on, and provide intervention that is appropriate for the individual. At this time, I am doing telepractice visits only. If you have a referral from your child’s pediatrician or primary care provider, please ask him or her to route it to our secure fax number. Feel free to message me if you are looking for another type of SLP service not listed above. I am always reading up on the latest efficacious and evidence-based treatment techniques. I am looking forward to serving you Los Alamos and White Rock, thanks and stay healthy! - Justine Dodge, M.S. CCC-SLP

The Brain Trainer
Develop Skills. Build Confidence.
Brain Training and Speech-Language Pathology Services The Brain Trainer works with clients as early as preschool, all the way to seniors. We believe that EVERYONE can have a better brain, regardless of their age. Our clients consist of school aged children who are struggling in the areas of math and reading or those who are excelling in school and want to be pushed to the next level. Clients who have an ADD/ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Dyslexia or a speech and language diagnosis will also make huge changes while enrolled in one of our customized programs. Our adult clients include those who want to gain a competitive edge at work or stay sharp in retirement. We also serve adults with ADD/ ADHD, dyslexia or following a stroke or brain injury. The process begins with an assessment, administered by our director, Vicki Parker, Ph.D., to determine a client’s strengths and weaknesses. After the assessment, she will design, a customized training program. Clients will then begin to work with their own personal brain trainer, to strengthen weak cognitive skill areas. This is not tutoring —it is training that actually improves the brain from now and for years to come. The customized programs will be filled with activities and tasks that feel like games. You will gain fascinating insights into how the mind functions and how nearly everyone can think more quickly, clearly and creatively. It’s fun and it works. Speech Services Dr. Vicki Parker, the director of The Brain Trainer and a Speech Language Pathologist for the past 30 years, provides Speech Therapy at our facility. A speech language pathologist, evaluates and treats cognitive and communication disorders. Here at The Brain Trainer, we work on Cognition—the building blocks of how we think, and Communication Skills—the ability to convey our messages to others. Speech and Language Services greatly benefit those who have difficulty with listening, following directions, coming up with words or putting words together to create sentences or clarity of speech. We now offer Cog-Med and Interactive Metronome services, to learn more contact our office.
