Services: ** TELETHERAPY AVAILABLE ** LSVT-LOUD (Speech treatment for Parkinson's Disease patients):We provide evaluation and treatment for Parkinson’s Disease related communication deficits. Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological deficits often cause faulty feedback to the brain which can result in communication that is too soft, mumbled, monotone or hoarse. Because of this, patients with Parkinson's Disease can often be difficult to understand. Our LSVT-LOUD treatment teaches Parkinson’s Disease patients techniques to improve their communication ability and perception of appropriate loudness. Dysphagia – Patients with dysphagia have difficulty swallowing and may experience pain while swallowing, making it difficult to eat. Dysphagia is caused by weak muscles in the mouth and throat and is often a result of a stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. Aphasia – Aphasia causes patients to have difficulty reading, speaking, listening and writing. Aphasia is caused by damage to parts of the brain that are responsible for language. Apraxia – Patients with apraxia have difficulty speaking what he/she wants to speak. Apraxia can occur in two forms. Patients can be born with the disorder or it can develop from a stroke or head injury. Dysarthria – Patients with dysarthria may have slurred speech, a slow or rapid rate of speech, abnormal rhythm when speaking or difficulty chewing and swallowing. Dysarthria can develop from a stroke or head injury. Stuttering – Stuttering is a communication disorder that causes difficulty in fluency of speech. This includes involuntary repetitions of words, parts of words or sounds. Stuttering is also referred to as stammering. Dementia – Dementia is related to memory loss. Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently. We observe the brain in action from moment to moment. We show that information back to the person. And we reward the brain for changing its own activity to more appropriate patterns. This is a gradual learning process. It applies to any aspect of brain function that we can measure. Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG. Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. It is simply biofeedback applied to the brain directly. Self-regulation is a necessary part of good brain function. Self-regulation training allows the system (the central nervous system) to function better. Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dis-regulation. The Root Therapy Services

Providing home-based services to Los Alamos/White Rock areas
Statewide telepractice services now available
Hello everyone, My name is Justine Dodge, and I am excited to be providing pediatric speech-language pathology services to the Los Alamos and White Rock areas. My family and I moved to Los Alamos at the end of 2017. I have been working as an inpatient and outpatient SLP at Los Alamos Medical Center since January of 2018. I am presently providing adult rehab and acute services at LAMC, and I have 5 years of prior experience with treating toddlers and school-aged children with a variety of therapeutic needs. At the end of 2019, I started a small private practice called The Root Therapy Services. I focus on providing treatment for articulation and phonological delays and impairments, childhood apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, language based delays and disorders, stuttering, feeding and swallowing difficulties, traumatic brain injury and cognitive reorganization (related to sports injuries, etc.), vocal cord dysfunction, and other voice disorders. Over the past several years, the qualification criteria for school therapy services has become more stringent, meaning that many people who may have qualified and benefited from services early on might not receive any services under current regulations and policies. At The Root, it is my goal to identify the need for services early on, and provide intervention that is appropriate for the individual. At this time, I am doing telepractice visits only. If you have a referral from your child’s pediatrician or primary care provider, please ask him or her to route it to our secure fax number. Feel free to message me if you are looking for another type of SLP service not listed above. I am always reading up on the latest efficacious and evidence-based treatment techniques. I am looking forward to serving you Los Alamos and White Rock, thanks and stay healthy! - Justine Dodge, M.S. CCC-SLP

In-home speech therapy and evaluations
Ashley Goszczycki, M.S. CCC-SLP, is the founder of The Speech Spark. The Speech Spark is a full service private speech-language therapy practice providing services to children ages 2 to 14 years in Manhattan. We provide consultations, evaluations and therapy. A FREE consultation is provided in-person or via phone to discuss concerns, share information such as previous evaluations, and gather relevant documents on your child's level of speech and language skills. A consultation is used to determine if an evaluation is needed. If we determine that an evaluation is needed, your child's skills will be assessed during play, through parent interview, and using formal tests. An evaluation is 1-2 hours long. Following the evaluation, a comprehensive evaluation report is provided, which includes results, recommendations, frequency and duration of therapy, beneficial therapy programs, and classroom modifications. I work with you, your child and the child's teachers to develop a plan, including goals, helpful strategies, and areas of need. Therapy services are conducted in your home/daycare/school due to the incredible power of parent/teacher involvement in therapy to promote skill carryover. Therapy sessions can be 30 or 45 minutes, once, twice or three times a week depending on the child. After each session, I will tell you what we worked on and give homework to do on the days I am not there. It is also highly encouraged for the parent to participate in the therapy sessions. If this is not possible, I will provide feedback and videos of the session via email. At this time, we do not accept insurance. We provide receipts that you may submit to insurance for reimbursement. Please contact us to discuss rates.

Learn to Speak Fluently
Let me briefly summarize what my program does and what you can expect. Basically, the program replaces your stuttered speech with a new way of talking which is incompatible with stuttering. You start this with a very slow rate of speaking during which you don't stutter from the first day of therapy. Gradually the rate is increased until it approximates normal speaking. At this point you are stutter-free in the clinic. The last part of the program is when you transfer this stutter-free speech into speaking situations outside the clinic and at home starting with very easy speaking situations and gradually moving to more difficult ones when you are ready. Out of state clients fly into Orange County international airport. The Center is located in Newport Beach, California which is five minutes from the airport and twenty Disneyland. Many hotels and motels are available. Let me know if I can help.

Center For Speech Language Intervention
Speech-Language Pathologist
Chapel Hill, NC 27517
Experienced
I am owner/therapist of The Center for Speech Language Intervention. I have experience in schools but find that one on one intervention is the most productive way to provide optimal services for the client. Developing a trusting relationship with high expectations is core to reaching a child so we can work together on target goals. We must accept where the child begins and celebrate that next step, then the next and the next. I have worked with children from birth to high school in areas including: autism (including Aspergers), childhood apraxia of speech, receptive and expressive language delays and disabilities, processing disorders, stuttering, genetic disorders, articulation and phonological process disorders, phonemic awareness and reading comprehension deficits. Another aspect of communication intervention is to address psychosocial/behavioral issues that may accompany communication challenges. While we want to use research based interventions such as Interactive Metronome which accesses neuroplasticity to support therapeutic goals, there is also an organic process of being flexible in engaging with your child. Your child's needs are unique and discovering what works best is part of that process. References and recommendations available.

Learn Best from Play... We Make Therapy Fun!
Lowcountry Therapy Center is a brand new pediatric therapy center offering speech therapy, feeding therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. Our facility is complete with sensory integration gyms, including climbing walls, zip-line and tumble pits, and multiple therapeutic room swings. We have specially trained speech and occupational therapists heading our comprehensive feeding program that addresses everything from picky eaters to trouble swallowing. Parent and family participation is a big part of what we do here. Parents are always invited and encouraged to attend all sessions and our therapy rooms have one-way viewing systems to ensure skills introduced in therapy are observed by parents and carried over at home. Lowcountry Therapy Center is proud to offer a number of groups and camps, including our "Little Peanuts" group - focusing on social speech and language skills expected in preschool and Kindergarten - that begins on September 2. We are conveniently located in the heart of Bluffton. We offer free screenings for parents who are unsure about whether or not their child could benefit therapeutic intervention.
