Services: ** TELETHERAPY AVAILABLE ** LSVT-LOUD (Speech treatment for Parkinson's Disease patients):We provide evaluation and treatment for Parkinson’s Disease related communication deficits. Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological deficits often cause faulty feedback to the brain which can result in communication that is too soft, mumbled, monotone or hoarse. Because of this, patients with Parkinson's Disease can often be difficult to understand. Our LSVT-LOUD treatment teaches Parkinson’s Disease patients techniques to improve their communication ability and perception of appropriate loudness. Dysphagia – Patients with dysphagia have difficulty swallowing and may experience pain while swallowing, making it difficult to eat. Dysphagia is caused by weak muscles in the mouth and throat and is often a result of a stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. Aphasia – Aphasia causes patients to have difficulty reading, speaking, listening and writing. Aphasia is caused by damage to parts of the brain that are responsible for language. Apraxia – Patients with apraxia have difficulty speaking what he/she wants to speak. Apraxia can occur in two forms. Patients can be born with the disorder or it can develop from a stroke or head injury. Dysarthria – Patients with dysarthria may have slurred speech, a slow or rapid rate of speech, abnormal rhythm when speaking or difficulty chewing and swallowing. Dysarthria can develop from a stroke or head injury. Stuttering – Stuttering is a communication disorder that causes difficulty in fluency of speech. This includes involuntary repetitions of words, parts of words or sounds. Stuttering is also referred to as stammering. Dementia – Dementia is related to memory loss. A speech-language pathologist can help patients with dementia by using strategies to help preserve communications and cognitive function.

Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently. We observe the brain in action from moment to moment. We show that information back to the person. And we reward the brain for changing its own activity to more appropriate patterns. This is a gradual learning process. It applies to any aspect of brain function that we can measure. Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG. Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. It is simply biofeedback applied to the brain directly. Self-regulation is a necessary part of good brain function. Self-regulation training allows the system (the central nervous system) to function better. Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dis-regulation. Our Practice, Hearing Partners of South Florida, is an audiology practice offering comprehensive hearing testing including tinnitus and balance assessments. As an organization of hearing professionals, we strive to provide our patients with viable treatment strategies to meet their hearing healthcare needs. Our Audiologists are all doctoral level and continue to stay abreast of new technology and treatment options in the field of Audiology. Unlike other hearing aid practices, we carry all brands and choose the appropriate technology based on the patient’s specific needs. Our practice model is medical based not sales based; our goal first and foremost is to diagnose hearing loss and any other associated pathologies so that the patient can receive appropriate treatment. Hearing instruments are a final option not the only option. Currently, we monitor for ototoxicity those patients receiving chemotherapy, radiation treatment and/or intravenous antibiotics. We work with industry to monitor noise induced hearing loss and with pediatricians in identifying hearing loss in the newborn population. We also work with musicians and sound engineers in fitting appropriate musician ear devices. In addition, we work closely with Allergists and E.N.T’s in monitoring eustachian tube dysfunction and other middle and inner ear abnormalities. Dentists refer to us to manage tinnitus patients that suffer from TMJ and neurologists refer patients suffering from vertigo and tinnitus for site-of-lesion testing such as BERS and VNG to rule out retrocochlear involvement. We encourage you at any time to feel free to contact our office if you have questions or concerns. Thank you for allowing us to participate in the hearing healthcare of your patients.

The Hearing Doctor
Speech-Language Pathologist
Tulsa, OK 74133
Hearing Healthcare Excellence
The Difference is the Doctor! Many people are aware that their hearing has deteriorated but are reluctant to seek help. Perhaps they don't want to acknowledge the problem, are embarrassed by what they see as a weakness, or believe that they can "get by" without using a hearing aid. And, unfortunately, too many wait years, even decades, before getting treatment. But time and again, research demonstrates the considerable negative social, psychological, cognitive and health effects of untreated hearing loss...with far-reaching implications that go well beyond hearing alone. In fact, those who have difficulty hearing can experience such distorted and incomplete communication that it seriously impacts their professional and personal lives, at times leading to isolation and withdrawal. Hearing loss is not just an ailment of old age. It can strike at any time and any age, even childhood. For the young, even a mild or moderate case of hearing loss could bring difficulty learning, developing speech and building the important interpersonal skills necessary to foster self-esteem and succeed in school and life. At the The Hearing Doctor, our mission is to help educate families about hearing loss and promote the importance of prevention and treatment, hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, and resources for medical care and financial assistance.

My name is Angelica and I am from New York City (NYC) . I spent my earlier years of life in Puerto Rico and finished my teenage and young adult years in NYC. I earned both my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communication Sciences Disorders (CSD) also known as Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) in NYC. Initially, I started working with individuals with Autism in an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program. Then, I ventured to working with individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Throughout my career, I specialized in providing Speech Therapy (ST) services to individuals with tracheostomies in acute, sub-acute, and long term care settings. Later, I relocated to Florida where I currently reside and continue to serve as a SLP treating clients presenting with dysphagia, speech sound disorders, aphasia, cognitive-linguistic deficits, and voice disorders. In addition to this, I treat children with Autism, articulation, stuttering, and speech & language delays. I have a true passion for providing ST services across all populations. Throughout the years in my career, I have gained knowledge from clients' experiences. I also gained insight into how each client has individual needs and the importance of establishing a rapport with them in order to make the transition of therapeutic services more feasible for both the client and myself.
