Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently. We observe the brain in action from moment to moment. We show that information back to the person. And we reward the brain for changing its own activity to more appropriate patterns. This is a gradual learning process. It applies to any aspect of brain function that we can measure. Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG. Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. It is simply biofeedback applied to the brain directly. Self-regulation is a necessary part of good brain function. Self-regulation training allows the system (the central nervous system) to function better. Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dis-regulation. Services: ** TELETHERAPY AVAILABLE ** LSVT-LOUD (Speech treatment for Parkinson's Disease patients):We provide evaluation and treatment for Parkinson’s Disease related communication deficits. Parkinson’s Disease and other neurological deficits often cause faulty feedback to the brain which can result in communication that is too soft, mumbled, monotone or hoarse. Because of this, patients with Parkinson's Disease can often be difficult to understand. Our LSVT-LOUD treatment teaches Parkinson’s Disease patients techniques to improve their communication ability and perception of appropriate loudness. Dysphagia – Patients with dysphagia have difficulty swallowing and may experience pain while swallowing, making it difficult to eat. Dysphagia is caused by weak muscles in the mouth and throat and is often a result of a stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease or Alzheimer’s disease. Aphasia – Aphasia causes patients to have difficulty reading, speaking, listening and writing. Aphasia is caused by damage to parts of the brain that are responsible for language. Apraxia – Patients with apraxia have difficulty speaking what he/she wants to speak. Apraxia can occur in two forms. Patients can be born with the disorder or it can develop from a stroke or head injury. Dysarthria – Patients with dysarthria may have slurred speech, a slow or rapid rate of speech, abnormal rhythm when speaking or difficulty chewing and swallowing. Dysarthria can develop from a stroke or head injury. Stuttering – Stuttering is a communication disorder that causes difficulty in fluency of speech. This includes involuntary repetitions of words, parts of words or sounds. Stuttering is also referred to as stammering. Dementia – Dementia is related to memory loss. A speech-language pathologist can help patients with dementia by using strategies to help preserve communications and cognitive function.

Hearing Healthcare: Diagnosis and Rehabilitation
As the only Audiology private practice in this part of the Wabash Valley, we take a healthcare approach to hearing loss, looking for causes and related conditions to determine if medical care is needed. We also test hearing for legal and hearing aid purposes, and make custom earpieces and earplugs. If hearing aids are recommended, we'll help you choose the BEST hearing aids FOR YOU---your hearing loss, lifestyle, cosmetic concerns, patience level, dexterity and budget. All services are provided by Sheryl Boatz, Au.D., a Doctor of Audiology with more than 35 years’ experience. Hearing aids are priced at or near wholesale, plus the professional services you need to succeed. With our "best-practices" focus and itemized pricing, we don't force you to pre-pay for bundled follow-up services you may not use. Choose the level of follow-up care that is right for you, but invest in the important initial procedures that may be critical to success. We program hearing aids to optimize speech audibility using real ear measurement (method recommended by Consumer Reports but not widely used), and we provide instruction, follow-up fine-tuning and measure outcomes. We want you to hear as well as possible! Hearing optimally requires a bit of brain re-training, so we take a rehabilitation approach. Better hearing starts here!

Speech & Swallowing Therapy
We solve communication puzzles
My name is Mark Higginson. My wife and I are both speech therapists, and natives of Tucson, Arizona (and our office is right by an Eegees!). We both became speech therapists because of our enthusiasm for studying language and love of helping other people. Given the vital role communication plays in our enjoyment and success in life, what better way to help others than to strengthen or rebuild communication abilities? It's what we love to do! We thrive off of seeing our clients make progress and meet their personal communication goals. Having worked in various medical settings, we decided to begin our own private clinic in order to "do things our own way," i.e. give ourselves the freedom to provide the level of quality service and respect we expect to receive when we go to any medical appointment. We specialize in communication and swallowing disorders related to neurological damage or disease, but treat many other areas too, for both adults and children. We give our patients the time they deserve in therapy, and focus on patient empowerment and independence through thorough education. Bring us your communication puzzles...and we'll solve them together!
The Hearing Doctor
Speech-Language Pathologist
Tulsa, OK 74133
Hearing Healthcare Excellence
The Difference is the Doctor! Many people are aware that their hearing has deteriorated but are reluctant to seek help. Perhaps they don't want to acknowledge the problem, are embarrassed by what they see as a weakness, or believe that they can "get by" without using a hearing aid. And, unfortunately, too many wait years, even decades, before getting treatment. But time and again, research demonstrates the considerable negative social, psychological, cognitive and health effects of untreated hearing loss...with far-reaching implications that go well beyond hearing alone. In fact, those who have difficulty hearing can experience such distorted and incomplete communication that it seriously impacts their professional and personal lives, at times leading to isolation and withdrawal. Hearing loss is not just an ailment of old age. It can strike at any time and any age, even childhood. For the young, even a mild or moderate case of hearing loss could bring difficulty learning, developing speech and building the important interpersonal skills necessary to foster self-esteem and succeed in school and life. At the The Hearing Doctor, our mission is to help educate families about hearing loss and promote the importance of prevention and treatment, hearing aids, aural rehabilitation, and resources for medical care and financial assistance.

My name is Analicia Lucas, and I am the owner of Lake Murray Speech. I had worked in the outpatient hospital setting for years and saw how often, the length and quality of therapy is dictated by hospital policies and productivity standards. I wanted to create a more comfortable, personalized, and home-like experience for clients to come to therapy and work on their communication skills. That is how my private practice began. Here at Lake Murray Speech, we help those who have difficulty communicating to develop new skills and confidence. We provide speech therapy services for children and adults with the following concerns: Speech Sound Impairment, Language Impairment, Social Language/Pragmatic Disorder, Aphasia, Voice Disorder, Tongue Thrust, Stuttering, Hearing Loss/Aural Rehabilitation, Accent Modification, Apraxia of Speech, Augmentative & Alternative Communication. ABOUT US: Lake Murray Speech & Language was created to provide high-quality, more affordable speech and language services for those seeking private individual therapy. Our mission is to help each person gain the skills and confidence they need to become excellent communicators. We can effectively treat a variety of disorders, but we have specialized experience working with bilingual clients, Spanish-speakers, and American Sign Language users. In San Diego, many opportunities exist for children to receive speech therapy at no cost to the family. San Diego Regional Center speech therapy services are available for children ages 0-3 with severe needs and Children's Care Connection (C3) services are available to children 0-6 with mild to moderate needs. The San Diego RiteCare Childhood Language Center also accepts applications for free therapy for children ages 2-12. Additionally, your local school district provides free services to those who qualify (generally, children with moderate to severe impairments). If your child qualifies for any of these services, we encourage you to use them! Many children do not qualify, even if parents see a need for speech services. Other times, children qualify but are placed on a long waitlist. Some only qualify for very short sessions within a group setting and make limited progress this way. Similarly, if adults have a health insurance policy that does not cover speech therapy, the options for low or no-cost therapy are limited. That is why Lake Murray Speech & Language was created! We offer excellent speech therapy services in San Diego for those who are looking for more options.
